narcissists gonna narcissist

see the way he said "BECAUSE I SAID SO!"

some folks get into positions of power purely to exert their will upon others. obviously common in the police, some military (but less so because the context tend to be different), preachers, schoolteachers

you might find this interesting to read:

I have a hard time swallowing that pill because the Buggy driver was actually Helping people. I guess because I am not an asshole like that, (I excel in other areas of assholery) that I would have seen this as gratitude. I am very familiar with the military, it exists but thankfully it gets cleaned out by people of higher ranks. Or sometimes lower ranks, just blindfolded.

Oh I'm with you! The monster truck fella is totally in the right, amen that he's out there having fun helping folks

The context for the police officer is that "he's the authority," he's been told and subconsciously programmed to believe he IS that power. Now here comes a good samaritan, doing good and having fun while doing so, totally on his own accord. In my mind, this could cause the officer to feel immascualted/cognitive dissonance'd against his own mental conceptions. Now he feels like he must establish his dominance! Otherwise, who is he? In a desperate plea to reassure himself in his existence, he has to at least get the driver to "step down."

Plays out exactly like angry father and kid son. classic narcissism imo

The best explanation I saw for this is that the cop feels his "hero" status is threatened. Also, when someone outside traditional lanes finds an innovative solution to a problem it makes the authority figures (whoever's supposed to solve the problem) look like retards. Some people accept they don't know everything and use that innovative solution, but a lot will get defensive and instead of appreciating the help will attack it.

Low level managers

Could it be political too?

Were there too many alt-right types showing up and helping?

Did they get a command to stop relief efforts so the media can make the situation look worse than it is?

Sounds like the biggie guys are making the local useless cops look bad
