Because they're easy to make, generic and people soak them up like sponges in water. Seriously. Cliché overly awesome main character (strong independent woman/ dark mysterious lone ranger male) and get a group of people going 'omg what would be really fucked up? I know! A man who kills people with A to do B, so that...' Etc. Luther, I'm looking at you. Amusing, but nothing spectacular

We live in the age of female empowerment aka feminism. And the goal for women today is male comeuppance. So all the lead characters are strong independent women who solve a particular crime: sex crimes. This is because sex crimes are portrayed by feminist entertainers as being the fault of men and only committed against women.

In real life women are typically less intelligent and less physically capable than men, but in the feminist entertainment world it's the exact opposite. Today's TV shows and movies (and even supposedly fact-based media stories) appeals to women's delusional fantasy of desiring to be perceived as more competent and more capable than their fragile male peers . This is why characters in movies and TV always depict women humiliating, outsmarting, and out performing men in every way shape and form. Even feminist media stories follow this theme. Facts are always twisted to fit the same narrative. Bill Cosby's case is a great example of this. Bill Cosby is depicted as sheer evil and all 500 (or whatever inflated number they're using today) women are victims pure and simple. There are no liars among them. There are no sluts among them. There is no immoral behavior from these women. Every feminist narrative in the media attempts to portray them as helpless damsels preyed upon by an evil men with vile MALE sexual appetites.

And men are labeled misogynistic if they don't automatically swallow this entire feminist fantasy narrative hook, line and sinker.

These types of shows give the women watching a sense of closure because in real life the media always portrays men as getting away with sex crimes just like Bill Cosby is always seen as getting away with murder. There is no possibility in the feminist world of these women lying or being wrong in any way. This is why they are AUTOMATICALLY referred to as victims before any legal or ethical judgment has taken place. No feminist wants to talk about women lying about their sexual experiences and then blaming them and the outcome on men.

CSI [insert city] gives these women an opportunity to not only talk down to men but also to give them the vehicle to fantasize about giving men their just desserts for daring to think that they can get away with any conceptual crime committed against women. These shows feed into the delusional feminist fantasy that women are always right and men are always wrong. Men always lie and women always tell the truth.

Even shows like Dexter where the lead character is male still feed into the feminist fantasy of administering justice to male perpetrators by killing them on behalf of the women they supposedly victimized. Dexter isn't really a serial killer because he has a definite hidden agenda. Only a feminist's twisted mind can conceive of a serial killer who maintains the moral high ground. He is the ultimate fantasy version of a feminist white knight who acts on behalf of women who have been wronged by men.

The net result of all these types of shows is always the same: women end up looking like victims and men end up looking like perpetrators. Women end up looking like heroes while men end up looking like villains.

All these shows give you a revealing peek into the psychological mindset of today's entitlement-minded women and how they view their innocently naive behavior in relation to men's default aggressive and evil sexual behavior.

People, me included like them. My theory is that they allow us to think that we are educating ourselves so we won't fall victim to crimes.

I quite enjoy them, too, and you're right. That might be part of it. Watch 'Lie To Me', though. Greatest I've seen and completely shatters the mould by explaining his genius. You can follow his logic and its great
