Stephen Colbert ended Colbert Report because he castrated himself in the show with Anita Sarkeesian. Subsequently he died of shame, pleasing absolutely no one. Not his progressive lunatic superiors, not the always hungry feminist bitches. Talk about the constant divisiveness all you want Stephen, but in your later shows you were more than eager to please.

it's like some sort of twisted powerplay.

crazy feminists sprout about rape culture and violent video games, just cause they're so damn tsundere.

they WANT to be proven wrong. to be mentally and physically dominated, either due to strength or weakness.

This guy is a few steps away from being a nobody. He left his semi-successful show on comedy central to drown on network television. He doesn't have what it takes and honestly he's just not funny. Once he was taken out of character there was nothing left. Fuck 'em. He's just hoping that if he says Trump enough right now he will in some way become relevant if for only a goddamn minute.

Yea, he is drowning all the way to the bank.

Why does somebody always feel the need to bring up the fact that even though they might not be good to somebody, it doesn't matter all because they make money. I don't like his show. I don't care if he gets money or not.

The Daily show used to be about comedy until John Stewart took over and the show became a political hack in search of an audience. Colbert is an extension of this less than stealthy political expression. Then TV itself died and the internet took over where "progressive" gatekeepers no longer kept score. We now live in an age where the most valuable art/entertainment often comes from some 17 year old youtuber. The daily show/colbert is an outdated gatekeeper, just a footnote in history at this point.

Yeah, I miss Kilby too. He even brought some of the old bits over to the 12:30 CBS show he had before the other Craig replaced him in, I think, 2004. 5 years is not a bad run, and we got Five Questions and Yambo out of it. And a clip that I vaguely recall but cannot find anywhere of Sir Peter Ustinov finishing a line to Rick James' Superfreak during 5 Questions. Kilborn really had a knack for letting it all hang loose on the set and getting the guests to join in on the raunchy fun. He had the whole "Most Interesting Man", sex maniac in a smoking jacket persona down to a T. And now... he's nowhere to be found?

Did you know, before Kilborn, the Late-Late Show was hosted by the late, great Tom Snyder, Dave's predecessor at NBC (1973-1982) and the most recognizable chain smoker on network television other than Morton Downey Jr. Check out this famous clip of Tom's old show Tomorrow from 1979, featuring the late Wendy O. Williams of punk band The Plasmatics blowing up a Chevy Nova on the set. That was when TV was good.

Any good youtube channels you recommend?

I thought it was just because he got Dave Letterman's job. I'm so pissed Dave was computer-phobic and there are like no old Letterman clips on YouTube or for sale like the Carson show on DVD. Letterman was a genius, even if I don't agree with his politics either. Colbert is a communist hack whose claim to fame is playing an exaggerated version of William F. Bucktooth for the twitbook generation.

I'm also mad Lewis Black is still stuck at the same show he's been on since Kilborn and doesn't have his own slot with Oliver and Maher. Lewis needs his own show. At the very least he should have gotten the Daily Show instead of Nelson Mandela's bastard child. The only thing good on that channel is South Park. Late night is BET for them until the MTV guy comes on at 12:00. They hated Republicans so much they even got rid of Ben Stein's game show.

CBS should have offered it to Conan.

Conan's gotten screwed enough by the three major networks, don't you think? He's in relative obscurity on TBS now because NBC borked the Leno contract.

The only reason this guy became The Late Show host is because Craig Ferguson turned it down.

Actually no. They didn't even offer it to him, and he was rightfully pissed since that's what NBC did with Conan and then Fallon.

Ever since the Leno vs. Letterman thing in 1992, the successor bids in late night television have become kind of like the Shia vs. Sunni thing... the Sunnis think leadership of Islam should be a heritable dynasty, while the Shiites think it should be open to a candidate search for a qualified candidate. In the end, both suck and should be tossed in the dustbin of history because none of it contributes much to the culture. At least Carson and Letterman made good memories for the highlight reel, while Islam will always be shit.
