Altered Carbon is one of the best books I've ever read in my life. The entire series is well worth the read and if this series is any good I might have to sign up for Netflix. (I cancelled my account years ago.)

EDIT: Damn. I read the article after posting the link, and the above comment. This snippet makes me think I won't need Netflix after all:

Kovacs was trained by Quell (Hamilton star Renee Elise Goldsberry), the leader of the Envoys — elite interstellar warriors, trained in the ways of intuition, combat, and survival…

Nope. Nope. Nope. Why bother going to all of the supposed effort to create the universe in which this takes place only to completely change who Quell is and what she is known for?

EDIT 2: I'm going to read it again starting now and try to keep track of where Netflix gets it wrong.

Fuck yes.
Also, since when was Reileen Kovacs' sister?

Wait, what?

They've turned out some decent shows lately.

I've heard, but I watch so little television that it really isn't worth it.

I'm reading Broken Angels right now. About 1/3 into it. Great so far.

It's been some time since I read the trilogy. I recall them being on the better side of good.

Something is off with the teaser. I barely remember various details about the first book apart from interspersed scenes of gratuitous sex, and violence, but it looks too Mass Effect, not dirty/not clean enough, for lack of better terms. They made the setting, the characters generic.

It is funny that a live action Altered Carbon is being done before Neuromancer, and Snow Crash. But I guess, after decades of people aping The Matrix, those books are almost John Carter of Mars territory.

I started reading it again last night and the synopsis tells me the show's plot will play fast and loose with the book's. That's too bad and there's no need for the changes IMHO.

I would have loved to have seen Snow Crash or Neuromancer on screen but like you said, I doubt they'd be done well.

"stunning"?

this is not an encouraging buzzword to staple to something. my red flag senses are tingling from promotion alone

Yeah, if they're mentioning the visuals in the headline it usually doesn't bode well for the show's actual content.
