It seems that 10/10 tumblrinas were too busy blogging about their "hard life" to pay attention to the basics in math class.

Well you have people out there literally spouting that education is a tool of the patriarchy so...I mean, how do you even fight stupid that is on that level?

Tumblrinas study gender studies, not STEM, because STEM is closed to only those who support the patriarchy.

i like the cartoon where the guy is standing at a booth to sign people up for sciencey classes, and all the women walk by him and sign up for feminist classes, and the next frame, they have all dyed their hair and holding protest signs about "not enough women in science"

That sounded funny enough for me to give it a half-hearted web search, and was surprised at how quick I found it, ha.

No wonder they want more women in STEM. Clearly, they can't be bothered to do it themselves!

That 25% of the workforce population is equal to 75% of its collective mass. The math actually checks out.

Which is actually completely horseshit, because a quick search showed that women make up 47%-57% of the labor force; at least in the states, which is where, I'm positive, this tumblrina hails from. So for the sake of argument, let's put that at 52%.

If it's 1:4 women that get harassed, vs. 1:10 men, using that information— *cracks fingers*, let's get to the fun stuff.

According to the US government's quarterly reports: the current labor force is approx. 157,065,000 people, as of August 2015. Total. With 8,029,000 unemployed, that's an even 149,036,000. Using this data, we can extract a few bits of information from this:

  1. 77,498,720 people in the workforce are women, on average, at any given time.
  2. 71,537,280 people in the workforce are men, on average, at any given time.

That's a disparity of 5,961,440 people, or 4% of the total working population. 4%. Even taking in to account that 4% variance, that means: 19,374,680 women are harassed each year vs. 7,153,728 men. 2.70833× the incidence rate for men. In other words, for every 2.7 women that get harassed in the workplace, one man does.

I could have stopped at simply linking to the first article to prove that your "75% of the collective" statement was thoroughly invalid; but, I just wanted to really drive home how fucking wrong you are. So let's figure out the actual number, if for no other reason than to humiliate you in to sourcing your stats next time, instead of pulling them out of your ass.

The total population of the United States is: 318,860,000. That means the labor force is 46.74% of everyone in the country; young and old; sick, dying or healthy, over and under the age of majority, despite their ability/eligibility to work (some of those people are in jail, too, you know). NOT 25% OF ITS "COLLECTIVE MASS".

Working women account for ~25% of the total population of the states (new born baby or retired, aging boomer).

STOP MAKING SHIT UP.

*drops mic*

EDIT: I just realized you're being facetious. No way you aren't. In fact, when the joke finally sunk in, it made me chuckle. Gonna leave everything in this post up anyways, so it showcases how stupid the infographic is. Pretend I'm yelling at the tumblr feminazi.

You could probably drag these numbers out further with male/female obesity statistics and do some magic finger waving. I don't think it's 75% of the mass of the collective - but I bet it's like 40-45%.

Edit: A quarter of all women is an eighth of all people...so, figure 17-23%, ballpark.

I really hope the fat ones aren't the ones getting "sexually harassed."

[–] Girthcontrol 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago  (edited ago)

75% of what mass? If you mean the total number of sexual harassed people, holding the other proportions constant means there would have to be 20% more women in the population.

Edit: Slower today than I thought! Funny joke.

They are just making shit up at this point. I saw a post on the other site that went something like "I hire people and I don't pay women the same as men". It was a complete lie, yet tons of idiots believed it.
