As a disabled person, her response made me so happy. Who cares about words like idiot when a lot of places are still not handicap friendly, where I am discriminated against, and bus drivers will see me and decide not to stop so they don't have to deal with the chair lift. When my autistic brother has to fight to do tests in a separate room to remove outside stimulation, a very easy accommodation.
There are a lot of big issues facing the disabled population. Words like idiot and retard and moron are not one of them.

oh whoops lol. Well, thank you :) I mean I'll give you a specific example. I go to a local mall sometimes. I like cooking, and Williams and Sonoma is a great place but I can't get through the store because even though the aisles are big enough, they always have special displays, making it impossible for my wheelchair to get through. Another was my family doing a family reunion on a boat with no accessibility so I couldn't join them at all. Frustrating, because it's just..overlooked almost. Being disabled, you are either too visible or invisible.

I know many people who work with (or did) mentally disabled folk, they all say the same things which amounts to : the true mentally disabled (formerly known as idiots, morons, retards) "are happy when they they get new socks or PJs and will tell everyone they encounter for a couple of weeks about them".

I belive these particuler people understand tone and body language more than the meaning of words and when you behave negatively to them in a physical way is the only way they might understand/be offended.

Ableism, as I understand it, is when you talk about being normal, or not disabled. I really don't know how it started but it's seen as rubbing it in a disabled person's face that you can do something they can't.

I see ableism as something different. Like when store owners won't move displays making the store inaccessible or an apartment manager insisting that he doesn't want a service dog on his property. Or not inviting me to a party because I'm disabled, etc.

tumblrinas have destroyed the term though.

Many sudents, particularly people with dyslexia, are barred from graduation because the standardized tests required for it measures their disabilities, not their abilities.

Einstein was dyslexic. Shut the fuck up. Dyslexics have a disorder. Too fucking bad. Deal with it. Quit being a baby and learn to deal with your goddamn problems.

EDIT: Ohh noooo, did I offend someone? Fuck you guys. Downvote me, faggots.

There is no evidence that even comes close to suggesting Einstein was dyslexic. It's just something told to dyslexic people to make them feel better.
