Until I get a real rules sheet down addressing what spam is exactly, here's what I'll be deleting:
1: No advertisements (unless you follow the 8/2 spam rule)
2: No "check this hotel out!"/ direct linking to hotels.

I'll finish and style this when I have time. Welcome to /v/travel :)

Those are some cool pyramids, I can't believe I never knew about them (excepting the Egyptian and Mayan pyramids).

I really had to dig in my history for this, but this was a comment I made on another discovery that was made recently.
I recall there being evidence of coca, nicotine, & hashish found in some mummies in Egypt as well. The hashish isn't that remarkable but the coca and tobacco indicate some connection to South America. I'll see if I can't find an article or two.

That is pretty remarkable, I wonder how they travelled around!

Yeah, I thought it was kind of neat myself. The more you dig into the topic the more you realize that the ancients knew more than we typically give them credit for and they most certainly had some form of contact with one another.

Most definitely, they were pretty clued in to the world. Probably more so than the average person today to be honest. That thing that I linked a picture of above, Newgrange, actually pre-dates the Egyptian pyramids and was built in such a way that the sun would shine directly in through a little hole above the entrance on winter solstice, so they were well aware of the movements of the sun, stars, etc. It's pretty cool that they undertook these big projects back then when you think about it.
