$20/wk on groceries seems pretty unlikely in almost any economy. First of all, most hostels don't have a place for you to do any cooking, and even if you're subsisting on basic pasta, a can of pasta sauce (good for 2 or 3 meals) is $5, the pasta itself is about $5, and you're looking at perhaps 3 meals out of that $20.
Also unlikely is bus transportation at that rate. First of all, buses are only continental; you can't take a bus around the world. And even so, a bus is typically $30+ between EU member states at least.
Finally couchsurfing? I don't think that traveling the world on $800/mo counts when you're essentially freeloading on friend's generosity.
Hey, maybe not - but it's working for me. I made $1,000 last month from my online biz, I put away $300 of it. Currently in Sarajevo, Bosnia. In an apartment at $380, later going to Montengro.

it costs more if you want to go to new continents, that's true. You do need to pack up more if you want to get from Europe to say Southeast Asia.
