Hi travelers! I've been getting into exploring outside of the developed world and I'm getting increasingly adventurous with my fiance. Traveling recently in Africa, a striking airline put some serious problems in my travel, and I didn't have insurance on that part of my travel because the usual travel insurance agency I work with (via American Express) doesn't do the developing world.
Similarly, I've found it very difficult to find a travel agent that helps with travel in these places, which is curious given that third world travel is often much more logistically complicated than first world travel. For example an adventure-filled trip to Madagascar involved chartering drivers to traverse unimproved jeep roads, contacting luxury but offline hotels, and arranging passes for national parks.
Anyone have any recommendations on either world-wide travel insurance options, as well as booking agents that specialize in places more interesting and off-the-beaten path than Western Europe and the Caribbean? :)
