Comments from the youboob video:
Styx is such a sophomoric, disrespectful cringelord. Not a good faith debate at all. He came off as having something against Dr Jones from the get-go, clearly owing to a resentment toward religion. What a cocky buffoon. How does anyone like this guy?
That was a bit disappointing, the conversation could have been a lot better. It seemed that Styx agreed that porn is harmful, we could have gone from there. His reduction of the argument to a matter of faith and his dismissal of the arguments of anyone with St. in their name was annoying. At the same time, considering that the question was “should porn be banned,” his pragmatic argument is valid, ironically, in line with Aquinas’s assertion that a law that cannot be expected to be followed by most people is a bad law.
E.m.j was correct, its supposed to be an HONEST debate. Not a knock down drag out brawl for self aggrandizement. Embarrasing for Styx to take this chance for everyone to explore this complex isssue and make it all about himself. People are not hurt by pornography? Not addicted? Not demoralised? Not altered intrinsically? Of course they are, thats why porn is used as a weapon to stop strong families from existing. If you cant see that you have no interest in truth. Styx the weakest should be his new nickname.
Styx avoided the evidence that porn was a political and social weapon (Jones referenced the history of subversion, with CATO institute and such); he avoided how this doesn't victimise it's citizens (in his libertarian state) - he avoided the critique of how does libertarianism stop the oligarchs from harming it's citizens since the possibility of a good form of strong governance is missing; and he used anecdotal examples of how weed is addictive (but somehow porn isn't/is) even though previously at the beginning of the conversation he was happy to use analogies to video games/drugs to dismiss Dr. Jones.
Frankly the debate got out of hand - alot of interruptions which began and continued with Styx who asked a tonne of questions about governance. And Ralph could have structured it to stop so many interruptions. I also don't know why Styx was trying to insult Augustine; one of the most famous philosophers to exist who Dr. Jones was merely quoting - not as an appeal to authority but as a testament of wisdom.
LOGOS is rising nevertheless!
