My first redpill moment was in college
I came out of a bad break up and made a promise to myself that I wouldn't date any women for 1 full year.
The year I made a promise my co-ed fraternity recruited this southern gall into the group and naturally all the guys were obssesed with her and did everything they could to placate her. Because I made a promise to myself to not fall into the trap of dating, I simply treated her like any other male fraternity brother. One particular incident was when we were at a carnival doing security and frat-gal became hungry and asked me to bring her a hot dog. I replied,
No, you can walk the 30 feet and get it yourself.
Another guy next to me dropped his security job and got her the hot dog. Later in the year I ended up dating her (breaking my promise) because she kept flirting with me and everytime I was a dick she just kept getting more attracted to me.
'The Red Pill" was that women want men to treat them like men and not talk down to them.
The second redpill for me had to do with the moon landing.
I was obssesed with space (like every man is) and followed the very last space shuttle mission and was shocked to find out that it took them 3 DAYS to dock with the ISS. It confused me because it also took 3 DAYS in the 1960's to REACH the moon. Clearly going to the moon is a much farther distance that reaching the ISS, so it didn't make sense to me.
I stumbled upon the best researched analysis on the moonlanding hoax ever written and it was the final puzzle piece that led me to obsess about conspiracy theories.
I heard about Voat due to the fattening controversy. As news stories propped up that reddit banned v/fatpeoplehate and when I first visited voat I didn't much care for the community HOWEVER, Atko shortly after shut down the site and made it private. Which pissed me off because I wanted to see first hand what all the controversy was all about.
Finally it opened up and I visited. v/niggers and v/fatpeoplehate were the biggest subs at the time and the soapboxes were also the most frequent but they were weird and I couldn't figure out what the fuck they were about for literally years. Then HPOP and Amalek (who died for our sins) showed up and it was fun being part of a community that shitposted for laughs and giggles.
I moved an actual metric tonne of dirt today by wheelbarrow and my back is hurting and after I came back home it was a pleasure to relax and shitpost with users and get redpilled on history. So thank you to @Atko and @PuttItOut for continuing this project, because it's a great community. It's a fun community. LITERALLY nobody is having more fun than us and for that i'm grateful
