If they weren't afraid of something, other than routine mocking, and a few snide remarks, they would mostly ignore Trump, and go on with business as usual. That's pretty much what they did during the Bush administration, which put a few bumps in the road for the DS agenda. Because of that, they doubled down at the beginning of the Obama administration. Remember trillions of $$$ going into "shovel ready" jobs? By "shovel ready", they meant "we're going to bury the US economy".
There's been wave after wave of attacks on Trump, and on US. And POTUS eggs them on - "Good. Good. Let the Hate Flow. Let The People see your Dark Side". And they can't help themselves. They've become totally irrational.
IMHO - the tea leaves spell out fear quite clearly.
No question that Bush was a sellout. But I don't see him as part of the Clinton cabal. There are factions within the DS players, with their own agendas. I would argue that if Biden had gotten in, the bailouts would have begun right away, and the dismantling of the constitution would be much farther along.
