preface: I am not condoning the actions of those arrested.
This is typical entrapment. For decades, the media has been brainwashing every male to believe youth and beauty are to be sought after. (Over half of beauty models are under 18). The police create a trap where, men who may never have acted on any urge to be with an underage female, are offered the "perfect scenario" to live out what could be a fantasy...a willing girl who happens to be right in the neighborhood, in a hotel.
IF the police placed an ad that stated "free heroin!", and gave the location...and then arrested anyone who showed up to take it -> even if they did not go through with even touching it - they would be thrown out of court. Even some recovering addicts who had no intention of ever using again might show up.
So they caught some perverted fathers. This will do absolutely nothing to stop sex trafficking. All it did was destroy families. Let's give the cops a warm round of applause.
The best way to stop real trafficking, not police make believe, would be much harder...and may even involve looking at our own government agencies. Also, stop financially rewarding people for having unwanted kids. All these young girls with mommy & daddy issues are a gift to the traffickers.
