This type of RNA virus is very adaptable -- it can mutate easily. There was a report from China that 6 members of a family had it, and all six had a different version. Also this thing--because of the HIV element--is up to 20 times easier to transmit than typical seasonal flu. This is why so many healthcare professionals are coming down with it. 40 in one Chinese hospital caught this. It is made (lab-engineered) to infect as many people as possible.

So while it may not come to anything in the long run, the concern for this as a potential pandemic is actually scientifically valid and warranted.

Concern for any pathogen is warranted but not to this degree. As I keep saying, there's more to this story than we know.
