Don't take this wrong. You, and all of us frankly have been misled about our voting in November. If you look at your State's election laws you will find language stating in effect that: A vote by a person for a specific presidential candidate will not count as a vote for that candidate for President but rather will count as a vote for the Electors of President nominated by the party of that candidate.

The President and Vice President are voted for by the 12th Amendment Electors in December. Their votes are not counted until January by the President of the Senate in front of both Houses of Congress. It is true your vote does not count as a vote for President. This does not devalue your vote because your vote for those Electors determines which parties Electors then vote for President. Generally party Electors vote for their parties candidates, not always though as evidenced by the cases referred to in the article linked in this post.
