You guys are nuts if you thing this will actually happen. They are posturing for their base, there is no need for anyone to show up in person.
'Violators' will simply have their assets frozen by the state and denied any services until the comply. When they can't pay their bill it's those same local Sheriffs who will either have to enforce forclosures or allow the local economy to take a dive.
Either way lefties in Richmond won't care. If the people in VA wait for the fight to come to them it's too late.
I have seen the state produce a list of both long and hand guns owned by someone because of an empty pot pipe. Even though the state did not want to prosecute they still made this person surrender their firearms for six months before dropping charges. State had every every firearm serial number. The owner had to produce a bill of sale or have a notarized letter from a 'legal' owner that the guns were stored with them.

How do they know who has guns? There is no registry that I am aware of.
