$238 million net worth? That's fucking insane.
I can understand how end-of-career politicians end up with a few million (like 4-5 million). Lobbying, books, speaking events, etc, all pay well, and I'd like to assume they have at least basic money management skills. Today, being a millionaire isn't exactly hard if you have a $150k-200k job like she does.
However, how the fuck could she explain $238 million? She first took office in '87, so 32 years in office. That averages to a little under $7.5 million a year. Less her salary, and she's pulling in an extra $7.3 million per year.
Even Hillary Clinton only charged $625,000 to speak at Goldman Sachs. Pelosi would have to give 12 Clinton-level speeches per year to hit that net worth. As far as I know, Pelosi only has one book from 11 years ago, and doesn't do much (if any) public speaking.
Where is the money coming from? (((Our neighbors)))?
