First off, those two passages are largely unrelated especially in the context of the question. Separately however, the answer to the original question is a resounding yes. Yes! Yes! Yes! Peace is the ultimate prize.
While peace is certainly the answer it's not the 'peace' most have come to understand including many christians. Humanity has been since Adam, at enmity with God. We all have inherited a sin nature and this places us at direct odds with a holy and just God. And it's this condition thats keeps us from entering the kingdom of God.
But God has also provided way out this horrible situation. The peace that should be considered as the main prize is the peace acquired through the propitiation or the staving off of Gods holy wrath. In passages such as Luke 2:14 (“Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”) the peace referenced here is a peace acquired through the only acceptable means of appeasement in the form of accepting Jesus Christ as lord and Savior. So ultimately, its the act of propitiation results in the type of peace that should be considered the main prize.
