I think they (and possibly other liberals) are half right. Same with authoritarianism loving right wingers. But typically wrong is their analysis of root cause and solution. I generally make a plea for equal treatment under law, equal opportunity, personal individual freedom and liberty, and right to self, personal property, and self protection. Win them over on these base concepts, then illustrate all instances or conditions where their political viewpoints violate these values. Prepare yourself for much equivocation.

Correct:

The system is rigged against us.

Banks are evil.

War is evil.

Voting/democracy is rigged.

The justice system is unfair or unfairly exercised/applied.

The world is not fair (This is true. It is not and never will be. But the rules to the game can be fair.)

Incorrect:

Capitalism is bad or to blame (correction: crony capitalism is bad, we need more freedom not less)

Authoritarianism, coercion, and force are ok as long as it suits my ends/values (correction: always bad as the pendulum swings the tools you use can be used against you...incremental road to authoritarianism)

Guns and personal protection are bad (correction: self protection is a basic human right, murder and violence always have been and continue to be illegal and evil)

Everyone is/should be equal (correction: equal opportunity does not yield equal outcomes. The second you "correct" or level set any inequality, nature and reality begin to express imbalances in intelligence, beauty, ability, talent, wisdom, judgement, prudence, physical gifts etc. Nature expresses itself with normal distributions.)

Words or thoughts are acts of violence (correction: no, unless pose clear and present danger)

I'm sure there is more...
