I was aware of the pagan roots of Christian festivals but it was not something that worried me too much. Then I was convicted after reading a couple of books that clearly showed how no one who truly loved Christ could condone or participate to any degree. That was enough: much though it pained me, out went all my treasured Christmas decorations. Some were quite valuable but, like David, I did not want to give the Lord anything that did not cost me anything: this cost me plenty, I loved my decorations dearly but wanted to be right with the Lord. My family were aghast but respected my decision. I felt relief and have been richly blessed ever since, never regretted ditching Christmas. You cannot make something demonic holy.
