This will be unpopular here, but I feel it needs to be said.
While I respect people’s choice of faith, belief in God has no place in politics or government. We are a society which practices freedom of religion, which also means freedom from religion for those who choose not to believe.
You don't really understand. God hates religion. He wants a relationship with His creation. He established governments to maintain righteousness on the earth. He gave a system of commandments to maintain order in society. Abandon His directives, destroy society. Pretty simple, actually. Think about it for just a moment. A society built on love, and governed by the 10 will last forever and prosper immensely. A society without God will devour itself.

Its about tradition and culture. What protects us from the tyranny of the minority? If thine eye offends thee, pluck it out. When in Rome..... First they come for the flags then the statues then the hats. And who then is left? We either have freedom or we don't.
Until they turn this into a Muslim/atheist country, they don't get a chance to dictate the terms of our surrender.
