Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., suggested Sunday a compromise that “might save the day” in a partial government shutdown impasse, declaring “nothing will get out of the Senate” without funding for a wall and border security
In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Graham said there’s been “a bit” of movement in the shutdown stalemate.
"Nothing will get out of the Senate without wall/border funding and Democrats are not going to give us any money for a wall/border security without getting something themselves,” he said.
“Here’s what I think will work,” he said, describing outlines of a potential deal that would exchange funding for a border wall for protections of illegal immigrants, known as Dreamers, as well as for those who came to the country decades ago after disasters and war, “along with some legal changes to do away with some of these magnets to illegal immigration might save the day in the Senate.

I have seen the same thing. My wife is Venezuelean, immigrating legally. She has been to a local Latino help facility while trying to sell insurance. She was told by many there, they don’t want to buy life Insurance, they don’t plan on staying forever, they just want to make money to send home to have their adobes built, and then move back and live like the rich. They’re not the least bit interested in being Americans.

I did some work for the last US census in Texas during the last census. I observed that there were two types of Mexican immigrants. Those that were old school and have been here for several decades and the ones from 1990's to present as of last census. The ones that were old school respected the USA and considered themselves Americans and said so to me as I filled out the form. The newer ones did not call themselves Americans but called themselves by their country of orgin. They did not identify with the USA.
