Me & the Mrs. live in S. Anchorage and this one was by far the strongest, most violent in regards to shaking that we've experienced in our 4 years living in S. central Alaska. This quake was centered just across the Cook inlet at Point Mackenzie. When we lived in the Wasilla area we were only 8 miles away from there on the Knik Goose Bay rd. We truly dodged a bullet with this one as "If" it had continued for another 45 seconds to a minute longer in duration moving it up the Richter scale to an 8.5 at that location & depth Anchorage as well as the cities of Wasilla & Palmer "Might" not be here? The big quake of 64 was centered 75 miles away and at a 9.0 leveled a good chunk of Anchorage and down to Seward in the Kenai, This one really shook me (pardon the pun). Oh and our most recent aftershock took place 15 minutes ago and shook the 4 plex we live in.

Ran across this article this morning:
On 11/11/18 strange seismic waves that rippled around world leave scientists bewildered -- The wave pattern seen on 11 November resembled these slow-moving waveforms usually seen following large earthquakes - only, in this case, there had not been a perceptible earthquake. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/earthquake-seismic-waves-mayotte-madagascar-volcanic-activity-science-a8659236.html

Yeah, if I hear anything about a D5 avalanche on the news I’m going flip my lid.
