It does seem like stupidity, I know--and in some cases is, but it is also an inconvenient truth. People like continuity in the world and they have a lot of anxiety, I think about their daily life--work, money, marriage, kids. They want to assume the country is taking care of itself and they examine the real world of events so casually that they see it not at all. As with Plato's Cave, they confuse the shadows on the wall of the cave for reality--a time worn condition that those in power take advantage of--human nature is mostly this way.

It's uncomfortable otherwise. Yes, a convenient comfort is the fix for them. I know too much about "stuff" to relax with their fix. 😥 Thanks Patriot for your input.
