Also, if I'm correct and I'm only guessing, those early "bulletin boards" online were also the internet. I am assuming that even then whatever groups were online had to be using some kind of dial up land line. Which means it was still the internet back then even though most people had never heard of it until the World Wide Web comes about to integrate all of the smaller networks that must have existed even then. Still, just guessing. I wasn't some cool 80's/90''s hacker. But good to know that Twitter and fb aren't the only places with complete dicks that try to insult you when all you're trying to say is "Hey, the faster the info is shared, the faster everyone knows the truth." Also, mothballs, pretty sure that's a timeless quality going all of the way back to Paul Revere. In this country at least.
