As the title states, I'm trying to get a client of mine on a 4G backup system when the internet goes out. We are located in Florida, and its a remote site that I am unable to drive to. I've gotten clients working on a 4G before but this is baffling me.
Technology: Windows 7 64 bit OS
Router: Netgear FVG 802.11G Prosafe Firewall
Hotspot: Jetpack MHS700L, Verizon
Wireless on POS: Some kind of USB wireless device. I got it to work when not connected to router.
Client has to remain connected to back room server for RMS. Yes, the POSs have Offline databases, but I don't want to rely on those unless I have to.
I've changed DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 respectively, and that did not work. I've since reset DNS to ISP.
My boss wants the POS to use the wireless USBs, but I am trying to convince him to turn the routers Wifi on and have that connect to the hotspot itself as a redundancy. One of the reasons this might not be a good option is the distance from the router to the jetpack, and/or the signal in the building isn't the greatest unless he has the Jetpack downstairs near a window for best reception.
I'm going to call client on 7/20/15 after closing to work on this again.
Thanks in advance for your help. I'm not that good with IT, yet but I'm learning.

So I wanted to follow up. The boss ended up taking over and he solved the issue by setting a static IP address on the computers. The DNS was set to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
Thanks for all your help.
