Data caps don't make sense. They exist to increase revenue and to fend off competition from online TV competitors such as Netflix.

This wouldn't happen if they ISP monopolies were broken up. This can only happen due to an utter lack of competition.

Data caps are like diamonds: plenty of diamonds/bandwidth out there to be had, but an artificial scarcity has been created, and now you'll pay through the nose for something that literally had no previous value.

Except that diamonds are extremely valuable and used rather often in multiple industries. Maybe not AS valued as it is right now because of said artificial scarcity, but diamonds in themselves are useful. Same as data in some way I guess. How else am I gonna browse my porn otherwise?!

They're consumables.

That equates to about 248.7 gigabits per second. If it were the US, there should be enough for each person to get 779 megabits a second (going on the population of the US being 318.86 million).

If they can get those speeds where Adobe claimed they had to double the price of a digital copy of their software due to bandwidth, what, apart from $, can Comcast use for an excuse?

Providing downloads is a legitimate difference, their CDN may charge them by bandwidth usage.

True. But, could do it torrent style given this math. And also, given the same numbers, the CDN shouldn't be charging enough for Adobe to justify $1400 more. $100 MAYBE.

This was over the mobile 4g network, guy lives next to the mast. People sent him hate mail after the news broke because they were getting slow speeds.

I wouldn't consider highly throttled speeds "being able to handle large amounts of data". But yeah, data caps are still bullshit.

And data caps never clearly reflect reality. They are always artificially low

2686 Terabytes of data in 24 hours

That doesn't sound possible
