After reading various posts lately regarding the controversies of technology, I believe that the future looks timid. As the government continues to catch up with the rapidly growing technological innovations from the past years, troubles arises immensely. Ever since the internet formed, computer hobbyist have and continue to scream for an open and secure internet. But now that technology has reached substantial levels of artificial intelligence I can only hope that the government stops tampering with technology. The FBI’s backdoor installations on smartphones hints in a direction that we are heading into a degraded society without individualism. Privacy is essential for individualism as it is the only time when we have no spectators and are free to express our upmost person feelings and desires. We begin to notice a timeline with a lack of privacy from examples including the NSA to Net Neutrality that already melts individualism but the idea of the backdoor is the last straw. As /u/forgetmyname said, the backdoor will most likely result in “Clipper Chip” installations on phones and imagine what they will install when AI microchips become implemented into our brain.
