You'll have a choice soon enough when Vulkan hits 1.0.

It just did.

I'm excited about vulkan though I fear it'll have nowhere near the impact the linux community hopes it will.

Yes, you do.

Qemu + kvm + gpu pass through.

Run Linux and when you want to play your windows games (those that haven't been ported to Linux yet) fire up your VM and play.

Or, you can build a Windows machine dedicated to just gaming, toss it in your closet and use steams in-home streaming to play your windows games.

If you are willing to go through all this trouble just to play some game, it would be much easier for you to go one of those routes. Because then, it becomes even easier to block the traffic at the router or host OS level.

This is not suitable advice for any game made in the last decade.

That is incredibly complex, unfortunately most people just won't spend the time when they could just install windows and have everything insta-work. Hell, I'm pretty computer-savvy and I've never even attempted gpu-passthru.

The sooner you stop supporting games that only support DirectX12, the sooner you will get games that run on Linux.

Otherwise your argument just amounts to "Waaa waaa, I want change but I won't change!"
