DisplayPort is an alternative to HDMI without DRM that's actually slowly taking over in PC display circles, as one cable can handle all the bandwidth for all the devices connected to a display, rather than just video and audio like HDMI - look at any high-end graphics card these days and they're starting to phase out HDMI and DVI connectors in favor of DisplayPort.

The only problem with this is finding a monitor with a DisplayPort input for less than $400.

You can probably find DisplayPort male to HDMI male converters.
