You know what sucks? Customers having to keep businesses honest because we have a government that fails to do so. Comcast lines the politicians pockets to get them to turn a deaf ear to the issues.

The government gave Comcast monopoly over cable in the first place. Once a company has a monopoly the prices rise and the quality of the product falls. Such a company is no longer accountable to the customers because it's in no danger of losing them. The only thing the government needs to do is rescind Comcast's monopoly status.

Not completely trying to shit in your wheaties, but "Oligopoly" with Time Warner and Verison is the verbage you are looking for. Same basic principle though.

PS. By the way, Wheaties suck and you should find a better breakfast outlet.

PPS. Nothing against you. Agree completely with what you said. :D

No one held a gun to the head of the CEO of Comcast. The leadership of that company is just as responsible for their behavior as the government that made it possible.

I like how he was given advice on " cables and modem issues". Dude built a bot, I think he knows how to check fucking cables.

At that point the company is just actively insulting his intelligence.

have you worked IT though

half of the time the problem is that someone didn't plug something in, and when it's cables sometimes you have to tell people to reverse the cable for some bullshit reason because if you simply tell them to make sure it's connected securely they get pissy about how competent they are

Comcast:

Can you check your cable?

Him:

Can you check your cable?

Funny that it is "down to modem issues" and what not for the article even thougb 99.9% of the time it is really down to the ISP limiting it so they can cut costs, because fluff you a d oligopoly.

Pertenet, but not conclusive, and highly entertaining -Watch "The First Honest Cable Company" on YouTube - https://youtu.be/0ilMx7k7mso

I have a 50mbps and often times it drops to maybe 5. Changed modems and routers etc several times. If course when Comcast cones out it hits 50 and they always say it must be the router... My only other option is dsl at a 3mbps max. What we need is competition, REAL competition.

3mbps is sufficient for anyone. Why would you need more?

Nobody will ever need more than 640kb of ram.

That's gonna be one sad, tired, possibly psychotic bot. I give it a month before it deletes itself in desperation.

This! This is how the crowd sourced answer embarrasses the mega company and the politicians who it owns into some sort of better behavior.

I have a dream, a dream when all users, no matter how they are dressed, get the Internet speed they pay for and deserve. I have a dream, we will rise up together against the mighty demons oppressing us. I dream of a day when awesome scripts with easy to use functions are posted conspicuously everywhere and usable by the most inept Facebook bunnies. I dream of a better place, a better time. I dream of the future.

Are you with me people?

He should share this script. Even if you get a few hundred people using it, that would make for an entertaining Twitter stream. Expand the scrip to Facebook as well.

He is measuring with a Pi. He should be measuring with something that has a gigabit port.

There is more that goes into performance than maximum speed. His Pi may simply be unable to switch to full bandwidth channels.
