I'm curious, why don't they just simply crash land it on the ocean and make it so it floats via floatation devices post impact? Get a ship to location to collect it out of the water afterwards.

Salt water is terrible on everything. They are looking to turn around quickly. Like planes, if they are not flying, they are not making money.

That is what NASA did for years, it's expensive to repair and time consuming. Spacex's eventual plan is to land, refuel, and lift off.
