Atleast in country like india people wont because they buy idevices worth Rs. 50k (750 $) but are reluctant to pay for rs.100 application (1.5 $)

That's true in most counties, thus was FTP and adverts have taken over the store.
I'll happily pay for an app, what I have issue with is when it also has ads and is FTP.
