Just be careful with which upgrades you let come through as MS is trying to sneak it's spyware into 7 and 8.1.

Does this apply to the Pro versions as well?

You'll have to choose between Windows 10 and Linux eventually, when security updates stop coming for Windows 7 and your computer becomes vulnerable.

I think they are among the last to do so, in fact.

Yes but 8.1 counts as a service package so that will last way longer. And nobody has 8 anymore. Everyone has at the very least 8.1.

Amazing windows, but not as amazing for games sadly. The new games were optimized for Win 10/Win 8.1 play. Fallout 4 and Witcher 3 are huge testimonies of it.

Edit: I don't understand why I'm being downvoated. This is literally my experience after monitoring the games with an FPS counter guys. I'm not a WIN 10 shill or anything. It's just what I observed lol... :/

Misleading, clickbait title no? 8 is still supported.

8.1, but yeah, completely fucking stupid title.

Important note: they're only dropping 8 not 8.1

I see what Microsoft is doing, they are going to trick the 8.0 users to 10 when they assume that they are migrating to 8.1.

You can't upgrade from 8 to 10. You have to go to 8.1 first.

May I just say what an incredible resource Softpedia is for software archival. You'll find decades-old programs on there that you can't find anywhere else on the web. Their news service is decent, too, but their primary service is something else.

But 8 is supposed to be supported till 2017, is it not? If they completely abandoned it, wouldn't that be violating their own licence agreement?

8.1 is the service pack. 8.1 is completely supported. They're just dropping support for the unpatched version.
