Patents are designed to protect innovators. It appears on the face of it that Americans created an innovation and the Chinese stole it. Happens every day.
To be fair, like airplanes and lightbulbs there's only one obvious design for this kind of product and its time has come. It is possible it was invented at the same time by multiple entities.
How is this a patent violation? I remember seeing a DIY version of a one-wheeled segway (a self-balancing unicycle) years ago. This concept isn't novel.

Because the hold the patent and apparently their version looks almost identical. Sounds like a clear case to me.

Patents have to be something novel and non-obvious. In the case of the unicycle, the segway already had the related patent.
