I don't understand twitter's draw, I don't understand twitter's business model, I don't get it. Who gives them money for doing what they do?

Fuck if I know. I used to try and keep up with all the gamergate stuff but the whole fucking movement's moved to twitter and I just can't be bothered to try and figure it out. Everything's all disjointed and without any sort of discernible order whatsoever. Fuck twitter.

Thanks. I have even less interest in creating an account now. I went from none to a negative number.

They tend to put tweets in from people/companies you aren't following. Aka advertisements that look like tweets.

In other news writers for Slate.com are on suicide watch after getting news that hundreds of more talented and relevant writers will now have a platform on Twitter.

I have never understood Twitter's appeal. People seems to enjoy it or whatever, but I just don't get it.

I use it as a replacement for RSS. Too many blogs and services (like YouTube) have removed their RSS feeds, but they will post to Twitter when new content is published.

See, I didn't even know you could use it like that. That makes sense and I could see using it for that kind of stuff. All I ever hear of is people tracking the mundane thoughts of celebrities or whatever. I should probably pay more attention to things.

I mostly use it to see messages about if a website is down or has issues.

I think the appeal is that it isn't Facebook, so it feels less 'mainstream'. Which is why a lot hippers use it. Also it's a lot easier to get updates to news stories in real time than Facebook.

As mentioned, it's useful to track certain things you follow for updates and the like. As a discussion platform it's very suboptimal.

So they are moving to a tumblr model?
[–] Starlight_Flux [S] 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
In more ways than one I bet.

But now the name doesn't make sense anymore.

Tweets too short? Twitter mulling 10000 characters?
