So yeah... this seems crazy... and just plain off the wall... I'm saying things aren't adding up, hopefully an autopsy and the police reports will you know shed more light on everything.
I'm not saying nothing happened but there's so much missing and no information to be had. Lets not jump on the old reddit detective bandwagon.

I'm just gathering evidence. I'm not willing to jump to any conclusions. This information is already freely available on other sites.

Until we know more, there's no reason to get excited. Everyone needs to remain calm. Calm minds are rational minds.

Exactly, stuffs missing, just not adding up, I mean if those were his tweets, wowsa, thats a hell of a thing to say, I mean he must have been pretty upset about what happened. Whatever happened, wether it be what it seems to be indicated (which would be extremely fucked up) or if it was even a much lesser thing but just made him feel insulted and powerless.

A mugshot from the County he was arrested could lend some information - but it seems that's something you'd have looked for right away under the circumstances, no?

Since I do not know the man, I can only ask: Were those tweets consistent with his personality?

A fake person. It is a stock image and a post in another forum uncovered some evidence tying their IP address to a corporate website.

If you are a Linux developer in USA you need to get out NOW. Linux and Open Source in general are under increasing government pressure because of all the damage it has done to the corporate government. Get out before it is too late.

remember that one of the govt's primary published goals of disinformation is to discourage people. The post above is a picture perfect example of what a govt agent would post to encourage contributors to give up.

are you trying to imply that the government is going to start killing linux kernel developers?

[–] Caboose_Calloway 5 points 25 points (+30|-5) ago

Yes.

I am convinced that if they run out of convincing methods to 'suicide' them they will resort to straight up execution.

We know what happened to Aaron Swartz. We also know that Linux Torvalds was approached by NSA and the only reason he is alive today is because he agreed to do whatever they wanted him to do. On a separate occasion they attempted to entrap him with women, probably for blackmail purposes.

Ladar Levison, the owner of LavaBit was clever (and selflessly heroic) enough to burn the shop down even before the feds got to him. He lost his livelihood but at least nobody died.

We know that Richard Stallman has been safe so far only because he has been living like a cavemen and he largely quit coding. He is still a 'leader type' however which makes him a target. Leadership types capable of swaying public opinion away from the narrative have always been targeted. Let's not even go into FSF and EFF.

I wish he hadn't commit suicide. There is a lot that can be done once you realize the cops are nobody's friend. I'm really in his same shoes. Check my comment history, you can see like him I've dedicated my life to fighting the police in word and software. I can't go into details. The guy should have stayed alive a bit longer to fight that fight.

He could have influenced the debian repository to be the ultimate anti-cop distro and ubuntu and mint derive from it. Just take ever software in kali linux and plug it right in. Why oh why did he have to kill himself before he realized that! It could have taken him days or weeks after the incident to figure it out because of how much it fucks with your psychology, but if he hung in there he would have had some realizations about what he could do, between panic attacks. He could do a lot more than me and I managed to choose to stay alive. I feel comparatively useless in this fight. What a waste in potential in what I've dedicated every remaining day of my life to! Damn! Double damn! We need to make up lost ground and put kali into debian. I wish I had the influence.

5:27pm: Maybe my suicide at this, you now, a successful business man, not a NIGGER, will finally bring some attention to this very serious issue.

Career suicide right there, followed by literal suicide? I'm all for free speech, and the timing of this is ugly, but yea that ones gonna ruin your reputation if you think law enforcements role is to physically assault niggers and not white people. The cops don't give a shit if they're coming after you. And if one assumes only criminal black people are such victims to violence calling them niggers isn't going to bode well.

It's a sad thing really. In this case one bad incident cascaded into many like a butterfly effect.

I think it more likely that he has used the N-word for rhetorical effect. If you read his capitalisation as an alternative to inverted commas his remark makes good rhetorical sense: "... a successful business man, not a 'n-word'...". Unless there is independent evidence that he was a racist it might be better to stick to a charitable interpretation. That said, it's an unfortunate choice of words, as there are plenty of people who will pounce on the use of the word without examining whether it was used with the aim of offending or with the aim of making a rhetorical point.

More likely he didn't type any of that. Police had his phone and they submitted these tweets to suggest emotional and psychological instability. Perhaps well after he'd already died.

It also opens the possibility the police spoke those words to Him during the alleged assault. Thus they became regurgitated but out of context.

I don't know much about the man. Does anyone know if he was racist? I mean honestly, these tweets seem like a troll. Or one of the BLM people figured out how to get into his computer.

I was considering that too - I know nothing of his background and have no information if his Twitter was hijacked. It's quite sensational in any regard.

He later tweeted the NAACP for help. So yeah, not likely a racist.

He lived in San Francisco and worked in tech. I highly doubt he was a closet racist this whole time.

[–] RightHandOfTheGoat 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

Honestly, the way I read that was that since he was white and successful, maybe people will pay attention to his claims of police brutality, which they don't with all the poor, black people.

I think he's trying to make the case that the police are innately malignant and that their abuse is universal.

GIve us your encryption keys, a back door in your software, or we make you look like you committed suicide.

I think either he committed the suicide thinking that it would send a strong message and hopefully bring about some change, or, potentially much worse, he was killed by someone and a narrative of psychological distress was manufactured to cover what would otherwise be a very strange, untimely death.
