There has been talk for months/years of them selling a battery storage kit for your home.

Honestly, I think the home battery market is going to be cornered by Ambri in the next few years. Lithium-ion batteries' only real benefit is that they are light and that is the only thing that doesn't really matter in the home. Ambri batteries have better storage capacity and they last pretty much forever. Full charges from 0 only affect capacity like .003%!

What are Ambri batteries based on?

Yup, this is probably what it is.

Honestly, it strikes me as weird that they would say they're going to release the battery in a few months and then a couple months later say they're releasing "something". Do they think we'd forget? Or is it something else? What's their game?

For the home? I'm gonna use it for camping - or for setting up a computer work station wherever I damn well please.

Exactly!

We are looking at paring down and selling everything we own, buying an RV and going on the road with our kids for some real family adventure for a few years.

Battery tech that could power electronic needs for a long time, coupled with free charging stations such as are already set up for the Model X cars, that would be awesome! I could continue to work from the road ya know.

I hope this is it! I would totally buy if it is under $5,000. But I bet it will be really expensiv. :(

Would be nice if they can figure out a way to make the batteries more environmentally friendly. It is tough to get behind a technology that shifts the environmental damage from one area to another.

I think electric cars are cool, but you're right: batteries are a huge problem for them. The manufacture of batteries is terrible and they're really not that good yet. They've got a long way to go to really be practical for straight up replacing gasoline.

I'm rooting for algae-based ethanol, personally. It sounds really good, but it's kind of like vaporware right now.

HAHA, that would be such a dick move to announce that it is not a car and then announce that it is an SUV.

My family has been waiting for the Model X for ever it seems. A family of 5 just doesn't fit in a Model S.

People fuck cars, nobody fucks with jet packs. Your logic is sound.

I would love for him to walk out on stage with a crowbar bent into a 3 and then make his announcement that has nothing to do with HL3.
