To be absolutely honest, as a goat, "Quality content and friendly atmosphere" is kind of debatable. It IS the internet. And I think we can all safely agree that certain individuals are not the friendliest on this. Let's not forget where almost half of our userbase comes from.

Edit: P.S. referring to coontown, niggers and those other racist subs that spread like a virulent disease on the website. FPH are sometimes bad with their antics but they mostly keep to themselves and can remain civil.

I agree "friendly atmosphere" might be a bit of a stretch. A lot of people here are people that were banned from reddit for un-PC views so the content and comments frequently reflect that.

Don't get me wrong, I think people should be allowed to be racist, sexist, etc. but the fact some of the comments are not downvoated to hell is sometimes disconcerting.

Hey look, you have an opinion and i'm not down voting you, weird....maybe we should set up 200 shill accounts and bury you under the disrespectful/wanna-be-joke comments.

Hubski and Quora have friendly atmospheres. I could (probably) have a conversation about whatever and not have an issue. Here? It's just a matter of time until someone calls someone else an SJW or a cuck or some stupid shit like that (or the personal favorite, accusing a mod of censorship) and starts whipping the mob into a frenzy of downvotes.

"The downvoat button is not a 'disagree' button".

The reddit refugees we're letting in need to realize this. Downvoat spam, shitposts, trolls, etc. Don't downvoat people's opinions just because you don't agree with them; that's what the "reply" button is for.

I think part of this is people who appreciate that the person is allowed to express such troubling views.

But I agree with you.

Not trying to be non friendly. Just wanted to share the link. I am newer to voat but an active user on reddit.

Sorry if this appeared to be hostile. Not my intention.

LMFAO. Hahaha you'll soon learn if you go on on /v/news or try to state an opinon on /v/whatever sometimes. It can turn ugly but that's just the internet.

Edit: P.S. I know he's also fucking around guys.

Don't worry, you didn't come off as hostile at all. Welcome to Voat!

D'aw, it's so cute. He's apologizing for something he really doesn't have to. Don't worry, the more you comment here, the more you realize you don't have any vindictive moderators to be afraid of. Go ahead, call someone a faggot. Feels good, man.

I dunno, compared to most of reddit I think it's pretty friendly.

I think the difference is that when people disagree with you here they disagree with you but they don't act like you shouldn't even be allowed to say that.

I think it's well over half, between FPH and the racists, both groups banned from reddit for running subs dedicated to hate other groups.

Really, Voat is not friendly, and I like it that way.

As far as free speech goes, 100% agree.

When i look at reddit now, it's like looking at a cheating spouse, it's all full of lie's. The submitted story's are all propaganda for the most part, and the comments are paid for. Anything with logic and substance is easily deleted or buried.

It is really sad to see the rise and fall of what could have been a great tool for humanity become CNNx2. I guess at least I got to use it before it was corrupted to the point of no return.

the well thought out 2 paragraph responses that get deleted are the best.

hahaha, look at all the deleted comments that go against the narrative....and that's just one thread, from today. How do most people on that site not see the gagging that's going on there????? It's fucking mind blowing.

Finally got sick of reddit for exactly these reasons. You can't contribute sensibly to a thread without accusations of lying and the signal to noise there is woeful. It is digg all over again and I even made a point of deleting my account. I'm not going back.

Hubski is very interesting because of how they eliminate the need for moderators. It is a very good aggregation system. The owner has expressed the view that he wants a small and close knit community. No plans for growing or going commercial. The code is being worked on by five guys who seem to know what they are doing, it shows.

As a goat I must say that I like Hubski. They are good neighbours.

Five Guys? They do burgers and coding? What don't they do?

Key word there. Small. It would never work on largish sites like voat.

Meh, I'm as excited for that website as I am a bag of dicks.
Hint: I'm not gay.

I created an account, but it's mostly a ghost town. It doesn't have the same atmosphere that voat does. It's very... meh.

I think the big difference is that Voat is probably being astroturfed by the Russians while otherwise uncensored, while Reddit is being astroturfed by everyone else.

If you don't like the 'racists' here I would suggest Fark.com.There is Zero chance you will find a link discussed that is critical of minorities. It is HEAVILY censored. Probably more censored than reddit.

If you like the Daily Show, Fark would be a good fit for you. Most of it is left centrist, Jewish-Type put downs of white people.

My first impression of Hubski- the word "bubbles" comes to mind for some reason. I'm content with being a ruthless bastard right-winger and occasional cucksucker here on Goat, though.
