Trump supporters are some of the stupidest people I've ever had the displeasure of talking with. "But he's a billionaire and can say what he wants!" As if that somehow magically makes him able to run one of, if not the most, powerful country in the world.

The types of people who would be right at home flipping burgers at McDonald's, because besides breathing and pseudo-talking, that's about all their brains allow them to do.

then you should maybe reply to them with facts instead of ad hominem attacks, thats how you win people over.

I support the immigration and tax plans he's proposed. I'm sure I've missed a few releases but i haven't really seem much substantial plans being released by other candidates.

I may seem weird but i float between Trump and Sanders. I don't agree with either 100% but they line up where it counts. Being a republican and an asshole, Trump just seems more likely to get shit done. Republicans tow party lines a lot more than Democrats. They can't agree enough with eachother to utilize the majority when they have it.

Trump is Establishment, just like Clinton.

I hope to be proven wrong. But it's getting harder everyday

Trump is actively helping Clinton get elected. Most of the same corporations support each candidate, last I looked.

All you have to do is look at the arab spring. These popular uprisings were caused by social media, and both Republicans and Democrats are afraid of something similar happening in the US.

I think the power of social media during the arab spring was due to both the novelty of the technology and the ineptitude of the governments it was used against.

The US government would regard social media as a tool against dissent during an insurrection. They could have trucks rolling with GPS 24/7 snatching people as they post. The vast majority of americans have no idea how far they are from anything resembling privacy. Any new tools created would be quickly shut down. Meshnets and darknets would be quickly compromised doing untold damage and exposing all using the networks.

Chinese activists disappear amid calls for protests

Chinese human rights activists have been disappearing ever since a mysterious call went out on the Internet for a "Jasmine Revolution" similar to the uprisings against authoritarian regimes in the Middle East — a call that was made again this week.

They've woken up. They know they are morons. They are really just trolls that like to get people who actually care who the president is mad. They love supporting the worst option and love that he's actually in the lead because of how butthurt we get, and rightfully so, he's the worst thing that could ever happen to this country. That's all they care about. They were kicked off of reddit (remember that some of us ditched reddit voluntarily but some of the latter migration were kicked off), and now they just want to be allowed to be the dicks and have control, even if it's entirely symbolic and when it comes to actual policy this is retarded.

Consider that many Trump supporters simply want him in power because his notoriety would keep him on a very tight leash in case of election, and that such people want reduced government influence.

I mean, the entire western world would be watching Trump like a fucking hawk, which is more than what we could say about any other candidates.

Other than possibly Rand, I don't think he's any worse than anyone else running. Yeah, he's in most cases an anti-rights, pro-surveillance asshat, but frankly so is everyone else running, except as I said maybe Rand Paul.

Yup. Ever wonder why the media keeps doing what is good for trump even though officially it looks like they are attacking him? And just why wouldnt they immediately jump on the issue of free speech if they truly want to hurt him?

By now its pretty clear that Trump is just a backup clinton in case something goes wrong. They have similar plans and are both very aligned with the establishment.

Two people who quite obviously have no idea about the subject they are talking about. I'm not voting for either of them, but at least Trump recommended we consult someone more knowledgeable than himself (He recommended Bill Gates) instead of putting up the facade that he is an expert like Hillary tried to do.

Trump said that ISIS didn't deserve freedom of speech. Which, they don't. They're doing just like Marx said our enemies would (and, as he put it, should): hanging us with our own rope.

Brunhilda is the one who wants to make everything a safe space and shut down people who wait for actual police investigations and evidence to come forth instead of automatically believing 100% of Rolling Stone Jackies when a wild rape allegation appears. She's the one who wants the U.S. to "examine our legacy" of "structural racism" and make America great for black liars who don't matter and ape turds like Michael Brown. Peel back more scabs just like Obama did until the whole country is awash in blood.

Trump would put the whole lot of them on the Amistad II and ship them off to Namibia. Nope, sorry. Still voting Trump.

If you don't want freedom of speech for your enemies, you don't want freedom of speech. Yes, even ISIS.

ISIS are not Americans. The U.S. Constitution is not the law in the Middle East. ISIS has no right to have guns or promote their religious cult or have a speedy trial or not be subject to cruel and unusual punishments. Furthermore, of the ones who are "American" (scare quotes necessary), they have forfeited their constitutional rights and protections by actively pursuing a violent and seditious overthrow of the U.S. government at the behest of a foreign power -- whether it's ISIS itself, or the Saudi Wahabist psychosis that created this monster, is irrelevant. ISIS are guilty of acts of war on our soil. Thomas Jefferson prevented an attack by the Barbary Pirates on the new nation once before. We need someone to do the same yet again with their modern incarnation.

He didn't say ISIS, did he. He implied "terrorists." Which of course the government gets to define and redefine at will.

[–] 0x4F 3 points -3 points (+0|-3) ago

No semantic hoop-jumping necessary. Terrorist is a synonym for Muslim. Not all terrorists are Muslims, but all Muslims are terrorists.

The amount of Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt getting tossed about over a Trump Presidency make me all the more eager to see it come to pass.

It's almost every day now that people are trying to twist his words (and I know he wants them to get twisted). This strategy is going to backfire. Most democratic-voting people think of themselves as intellectuals. All it takes for a person like this is for them to notice that the headlines aren't matching up to the details in the story. And once they realize that they can't at all trust the source they're reading, they will abandon it.

When they realize that pretty much every major media outlet is trying to run the same play, we will welcome that person to Voat.

Yeah this turned me off of Trump when I heard him. But then I remembered Hilary said the same and that you ultimately choose the best you can given the options.

Trump's statement about "closing up some of the internet" or whatever, like most of the controversial things he's said, is pretty open to interpretation. I think the gist of what he's saying, and most people would not find at all controversial, is "the bad guys are using the internet to do their recruiting, we should do something about that" but such a plain message would not generate the desired headlines.
