So let me get this straight. The govt is forcibly taking my money in taxes so that myself and my co-workers can be replaced by cheaper labor.

Yeah because the rich guy, not you by the way, doesn't want to have to pay your labor cost. Because fuck you whitey the brown guy does it cheaper.

Don't forget that foreign student is probably going to want to go home sooner or later taking all that knowledge and experience with them. Then you end up with fewer qualified workers in America and foreign companies better able to compete. This is some very short sighted bullshit.

That's the plan.

Shit, I'm one to say that Americans need to stop their bitching and work harder to get the jobs that the foreigners are taking away.

Even I find this plan fucking ridiculous. With so many jobs being taken away because of harder and cheaper foreign workers, why the fuck would we need to incentives this shit? What the hell is going on here?

If they all got jobs and you didn't then either your grades suck, you chose a bad field, or you don't know how to network and properly get jobs.

It's not racist to want to protect your own country's citizens over others.

Nothing wrong with being racist if it's backed by empirical evidence.

How about instead you give the 12 grand to American students as incentive once they finish a STEM degree? Pay for it by taxing future wellfare and unemployment recipients majoring in gender/women's studies. Only about half sarcastic about that last part.

The current costs are a result of them and all the associated services increasing prices because there was more money available from government backed loans. They'd just vacuum up this money too.

How about we require companies to hire citizens and if the skills aren't available, train them? Might not be feasible in some extremely specific fields, but is in the vast majority.

Well, there's your welfare/healthcare money. All going outside in the name of diversity. I honestly don't know how anyone can still support these cancerous policies.

when the rich want to fuck over the poor by outsourcing labor they call it "diversity", because they know that people eat that shit up without question.

Why pay people to hire cheap labor though? It seems that cheap labor would be its own incentive to a business owner.

This is us trying to buy competent citizens cheaper than we can raise and train them ourselves. It makes incredible fiscal sense.

Another example of why government should not be involved in the economy

[–] Sops 1 points 1 points (+2|-1) ago

No this is an example of why corporations shouldn't be allowed to "donate" money to politicians. This is just more corruption.

In UK its the opposite. If someone is here illegally and they're working the govt can confiscate all their money and they will fine the firm about £10,000. Makes me proud of my country but I dinnae ken how effective it is.

If the US government did this and enforced it we could probably pay off the national debt in a week.

So, let me get this straight. Importing manufactured products is bad, but importing the students who will go back home to be productive there is a good thing?

Boy- I'm really glad that our economy is being run according to a consistent set of principles directed toward a well defined goal. Otherwise, there's be chaos.

Very often, they do. We get a lot of them here... foreign students just out of school, looking to get some experience, and my company hires them -- or actually hires them by proxy -- at a substantial discount, plus government bonuses. We then have to train them in basic skills as well as tribal knowledge for the year or two that we have them, before they jet off back to India or China. The American job scene is less a career path for them as it is an extension and final sheen on their American education.
