It's a fuckng horrible case in the US. Like... There was no crime committed.

There exists numerous scenarios where file X can be uploaded by user A, then user B but deduplication leaves only one file. Though the scenario can have person B have a legitimate right to the file and person A be the one infringing, thus not fulfilling copyright infringement.
