Texas is not exactly the paragon of tolerance.

I am a muslim and I hear from other muslims that Texas is actually quite friendly, respectful and accepting in general. More than in places like New York

Yanks are just full of themselves and think they're a bastion of tolerance.

Yanks hate everybody equally. If you're special friends with one he won't spit at you when he tells you to feck off.

I wouldn't call that tolerant per se, but at least it's not bigoted.

I have family in Texas. The belief that a lot of the culture is racist isn't being intolerant, it's being observant.

Well to be fair, no muslim has flew a plane into a fucking skyscraper in Texas. Societies get prejudiced for a reason. I think that kid just stumbled upon a very screwed up school.

Almost all Muslims didn't either.

Stupidity causes prejudice, nothing else.

Exactly, people are more friendly towards women in veil in the Christian south than in places like new York. I expected Texas to be a worse place to be a religious minority, but apparently people are very nice in Texas. I have never been there, just heard it from someone who moved there.

My bet is your friends are in Austin...the rest of Texas isn't so friendly.
