The had better not if they know what's good for 'em.

I'll just not use their site, they will lose traffic, and eventually become pointless.

I don't want advertising in my face, period. I'm not buying shit.

I buy what I want, when I want. Not what some ad tells me to buy.

I'm fed up with advertising.

You block me from using your site because I ad-block and I'm just going to block your site instead.

Ummm .... to which I think they would say ... why do we care if you block us, if we're not getting any money from you anyway?

Selling ad space is how most websites make money. Less page views means the website is less attractive to an advertiser since their ad is less likely to be viewed/clicked.

Because I might tell someone else who doesn't use a popup blocker therefore giving you business? And that person might tell someone else.

Simple fact is that many of us that guide our friends and family in tech items/software like adblockers tend to also guide them in other areas, us mentioning how bad a site is about adds compared to competitor XYZ tend to encourage the other look at the competitor to see what we are talking about. Will we stop them directly no, but we will point at others or actively discourage some specific ones when we are asked for advice based on their actions with us. Word of mouth is not as strong a deterrent to website, but it is a form of good marketing that is not profitable to buy from most and far Far FAR better then a popup add in sales when presented to someone. I worked at a company that made signs for other companies, and word of mouth brought us more customers then signs or any other form of adds did, admittedly this was a brick and mortar store but when the company you are buying your sign from relies on word of mouth over a sign it says something for how strong that form of advertising can be.

I was kinda hoping voat actually was different than reddit (or rather more like it used to be), but from the votes on this comment shows that it's not about getting good insightful comments, it's about circlejerking.

I'll check by in a few months, but I don't have high hopes.

They are still winning if you had to click to their bullshit website to begin with. You can still view their content without their ads, and that will become technically easier with time.
