We would be running purely on renewable energy sources for some time now if certain key individuals weren't sponsored or didn't co-own certain electricity giants that would collapse if projects like these saw daylight (no pun intended).

Rubbish - take off your aluminium hat - the projects were then either bogus or not sustainable or have already seen some kind of slow adoption. The world and energy companies and the politician in their pockets do not squelch emerging technology or resist it. This project is seeing daylight right now.

Nothing is stopping anyone from producing anything in a free market system - a clean sustainable but most importantly cheap technology will immediately be adopted. I see solar energy producers being added into the electricity grids in every country with the right climate. Look at the investment in solar by government and venture capitalists in the past 5 years over $60 billion in 2015 will be invested in US solar.

Its not the corporations and profiteers that determine the status quo - its is us, people - and if you sincerely believe that there are evil corporations out there squashing emerging technology then you are part of the problem.

We as people determine the change and change often spreads slowly and organically outward form the source of early adopters. To run the world as it is on renewable energy will probably take another 20 years unless a radically cheaper mass system emerges.

Look at the chinese windfarm development https://goo.gGvB3Rl/maps/ over here that is some insane investment in alternative energy.

Maybe the problem is that people who think that the government and corporations are bad and/or evil are not providing an alternative.
