They're definitely gonna put guns on these.

All weather and lighting sensors, armor, and weaponised and a group of these could be place at any choke point that an army wanted to defend. Put these in a mountain pass or bridge and it would really restrict an enemy's movements. They would be great as a through the door first or down a tunnel weapon. If you made it strong enough it could carry all of the heavy platoon stuff while on the move. I don't see how this won't eventually happen. I don't see that it has to end up looking humanoid. It could just as easily be a sphere with legs and tool appendages.

As someone who plays Mechwarrior, I got a bit too excited when I read the title.
ATLAS

I miss Mechwarrior 4.. Mechwarrior Tactics was a shit game that didn't support 4x3 monitors, Mechwarrior Online is a shitty P2W fuckfest and Mechwarrior 5 will never happen.
Fuck you, Microsoft / Smith & Tinker / Stompy Bot Productions / Mektek / Roadhouse Interactive / Piranha Games / Harmony Gold.. Fuck you all in your collective goat-asses.

So when are we going to put weapons on them and send them to kill brown people?
Because technology is useless unless we weaponize it.

Seeing the quadraped robot being tested was quite interesting too. I remember feeling very uneasy when I saw it try to fight to get back up right again, as if it was an animal.

It also kind of looks like one of those mall-walker old, white grannies when it walks on level ground.

I first heard about it from this image.
Then I found the video. They hit it with a 20 pound weight on a pendulum and it remained standing. I was also impressed with how quickly it maneuvers over the rocks.
I can't wait to see a video test of a non-tethered model in a forest.
