189 domains that's just insane. It's hard not to be paranoid seeing this.

Domains and subdomains! It's a bit nitpicky, but 189 actual domains would be utter insanity. A mix of domains and subdomains is a bit less insane, but ultimately it's no better. You could, however, use software to block entire domains and all subdomains with a wildcard, but this is not supported by just the hosts file itself.

Nice. Once you block all these, the really creepy ones start popping up. Like 191.238.241.80 spynetus.microsoft.akadns.net

I just added ::1 a-0001.a-msedge.net to my Hosts, and can't enter the URL or ping the address. But a-0001.a-msedge.net can still connect to my machine?

.dll files can overrride the hosts file. You need to block this in your router firewall, for best results.

At this point, if you're concerned about privacy and using Windows for everything, you might as well be bailing water with a strainer.

And my Hosts file grows bigger while my internet runs faster. Sweet.

This is starting to get really silly... just install Linux. The only future for Windows is as a global surveillance apparatus.

can I ask a silly question? is there any reason they are routing it 0.0.0.0 instead of 127?
