They will not stop until they get what they want, it don't matter how many times we prevent them from doing this, they change the name, use some synonyms in the language and try and push it thru all over again. We do not live in a "free" society, we live in a society where the illusion of free is given. As long as we continue to bring this to the spotlight each time, we stand a chance of defeating it.

Agree

Disagree. We can post pone it, but it will get through on a holiday or very late night.

True. Once it gets passed, there's no way to turn it back except with revolt

I agree, they'll keep pushing until they get what they want. But technological solutions like decentralised , uncensorable system's will come about eventually, then we can ignore their stupid laws.

I agree, i just couldn't bring my self to admit that reality.

edit I feel if i do and start admitting the terrible things in the world, i'll just be more upset, as one person such as myself has no real influence, and that terrifies me, i guess the false sense of security in thinking together we can prevent it is no better tho.

And this time Reddit won't be there to help stop it.

If anyone ever needed a reason why the SJW takeover of reddit and the unrestricted power to censor subs was bad: This is it.

We did it, Voat!

Nah, but seriously, this issue definitely isn't going away. Given the amount of sketchy influences the internet succumbed to (NSA, Comcast, Facebook, etc), this might be a good opportunity to try thinking of some alternative forms of networking. For basic, non-realtime stuff, you could give smartphones in an ad-hoc wireless mode a public FTP - or something like it that automatically gets indexed or mirrored by nearby computers/phones based on what settings you give it.

Think of how fast sicknesses propagate across the world with air travel.

Reddit is bought and paid for, the full censorship is on with the occasional token threads to pretend they are not censoring.

It's not Reddit's job though

The admins previously endorsed stopping SOPA, supporting, helping to organize, and participating in the Internet blackout. Mark my words: they will not this time. Their corporate masters have begun to tug their leash, as we started to see months ago.

Unfortunately, there's not a damn thing anyone can do without public support. I don't even know how you'd raise attention to this anymore.

The same way as before, the Internet rally's together to stop it. But I feel like the Internet is something we're only going to keep losing the mass control over as time passes. I think within a decade VPN's and enrcyption may very well be need to surf the same way we're currently used to. I hope that I'm just being skeptical, and over exaggerating the extent of my own beliefs.

Shouldn't you already be surfing using VPNs and encryption for normal use?

You are what's wrong with the current political system. People shouldn't have to pay to play if they want to make a difference.

People do not have to pay to play. You have to pay if you want to run TV commercials and get into fundraisers. If you would like me to leave and go support SOPA then we can do that too but remember that not everyone is a single issue voter.

Post like this are important, we need to stay informed on up coming attacks to Internet freedom. The Internet at the moment is one of the strongest things in the world, and the mass population's of the world are in the most control of it. Governments are only going to keep trying to cap the power we have over it, and limit our control.

this is going to be rinse repeat, they hope to see people tired of it all and let it slip under our collective noses. but we've gotta be alert, keep spreading the word, raise a stink and be very objective about it.

They say security is not a destination/ goal, it's a process. In this case we need to keep our security in mind. The governments need to take of the crooks, and we need to take care of the governments!
