Ironically on a cellphone they are about the same. Also vcds are still big in Asia and the third world as.most people still have small TVs and CDs are.dirt cheap to make. It's about fitting a movie on 700mb vs the much larger space depending on the Blu-ray media. Most movies in the west are seen on streaming services so this video wouldn't even apply. No service is going to use mpeg 1 or 2. Or the full bitrate of a Blu-ray.

Depending on the software used you can still get pretty great quality when you resize the video down to the 700mb size. I was amazed at how well handbrake would do.
