UHD isn’t a format. It’s still just a blu-ray disc.

VCD is a certain format though.

Website is obsolete (2007) but talks about older codecs that are still around. Stand alone players are very picky with formats and it really has to match limits to whatever the format is.

Isn't UHD where they take a standard definition and then "upsize" it to be high definition on the Blu-ray? It is on a Blu-ray disc but isn't Blu-ray quality.

I didn’t think that “upscaling” had any special acronym. I’ve always just heard it called “upscaling.”
